We strive to ensure our privacy practices are compliant with applicable data protection and privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and other state consumer privacy laws.

Personal Information
“Personal information” is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked with a particular consumer or household. Personal information includes information such as real names, postal addresses, email addresses, and social security numbers.
Under CCPA’s broad definition, “personal information” may also include unique identifiers, IP addresses, biometric information, internet or other network activity (such as browsing history, search history, etc.), geolocation data, audio/visual data, and even inferences which may be drawn from any of the above to create a profile about a consumer.
Please note that some of the personal we collect may constitute “sensitive personal information” under applicable laws. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain special rights under the law of your home jurisdiction with respect to your personal information.

Your Participation in Research
Participating in our market research studies is voluntary. We respect each respondent’s right to withdraw or to refuse to cooperate at any stage of the study and will not use any procedure or technique to coerce or imply that cooperation is obligatory.
Please note that the financial incentives ordinarily given to encourage respondents to participate may be provided by Research Narrative or its agents, clients, or partners. Such financial incentives may be rewarded only if the applicable survey, research project or study is fully and properly completed by the respondent, in the sole discretion of Research Narrative.
Research Narrative will inform participants at the outset if any interview or discussion is being audio or video recorded, in which case we will obtain all necessary written consents. In the unlikely event these recordings will be used for marketing or promotional purposes, we will obtain separate written consents and rights of publicity assignments.
Information Collection and Usage
We may collect personal information for the purpose of conducting market research, sending out newsletters or marketing our services, as expressly stated and agreed to by you, and as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect in connection with our research activities includes real names, email addresses, and phone numbers, which we collect directly from research respondents for the purpose of survey recruitment and follow-up (e.g., honoraria fulfillment).
We also collect certain demographic information, including without limitation age, sex, gender identity, religious identity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, marital status, education, and professional credentials for the purpose of tailoring survey opportunities for our respondents and delivering research insights to our clients.
As part of the survey process we also collect information about purchasing history or preferences, political opinions, party affiliation, and other information related to consumer history or preferences.
We may also collect audio or video of research respondents with their explicit consent. We will only use such audiovisual information for research purposes.
In the majority of the foregoing instances respondents will know exactly what information we are collecting because they provide it to us directly. In circumstances where demographic information is sourced from a third-party partner (e.g., a respondent’s home panel) we do not receive such information unless you have given your consent to that third party to share the information with us.
We may also receive a respondent ID or other unique identifier from our clients or panel partners for research purposes.
We may collect certain location information directly from you or from our clients where you’ve consented to sharing it with us, including your mailing address and ZIP code. We also collect your IP address automatically when you take one of our surveys online. All such location information is only used for research purposes or for distributing honoraria.
Sharing of Personal Information
We share your personal information with our clients, subject to appropriate confidentiality restrictions, for the purpose of delivery of research results. We may also share your personal information with our vendors and service providers as necessary, subject to confidentiality agreements, including appropriate use restrictions, with such vendors and service providers.
In addition to the above, Research Narrative may use your personal information to comply with our legal obligations, to update our records, to comply with any prior opt out requirements, to validate information you provide to us, and as otherwise permitted by this Privacy Policy or authorized by you.
Research Narrative will not disclose personal information other than for the purposes listed above, without the permission of the research participant. The following are exceptions:
If Research Narrative shares your personal information or allows it to be collected or maintained by anyone other than Research Narrative, the use of your personal information will be governed by appropriate confidentiality and security agreements.

Your Right to “Know”, to Request Deletion, and to Correct
You have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
You have the right to know the categories of sources from which the personal information has been collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing personal information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information.
You have the right to request deletion of personal information we’ve collected or maintain, subject to certain exceptions. Please be advised that our ability to delete your personal information is contingent on our ability to identify what information belongs to you. In any case, we will always use best efforts to identify and delete all personal information related to you.
You also have the right to correct any inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.

Please note that any requested disclosures may only apply to the 12-month period preceding the request, depending on how difficult it is for us to retrieve the necessary information, and you are entitled to request disclosure regarding your personal information twice in any 12-month period.
Your Right to Opt Out and Limit Processing of Sensitive Personal Information
CCPA defines the term “sell” broadly. Its meaning includes “renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, [and] transferring…for monetary or other valuable consideration.”
Under this definition, the CCPA’s broad definition of “personal information,” we may “sell personal information” about you to our clients or other collaboration partners, such as your contact information or certain combinations of anonymized or pseudonymized demographic and other information.

Personal Information “Sold” and Disclosed for a Business Purpose
You also have the right to know what categories of personal information we’ve “sold” or disclosed for a business purpose, and the third parties to whom that information was “sold” or disclosed.
Categories of information we’ve “sold” in the previous 12 months include: demographic data, such as age, sex, race/ethnicity, parental status, marital status, ZIP code, income and education levels; research participant photos, video, and audio; and other anonymized or aggregated information from research and survey results.
Categories of information we’ve otherwise disclosed for a business or commercial purpose (for example, for confidential use by our service providers) in the previous 12 months include: the above categories of information we’ve “sold,” as well as log files, browser type, operating system, and other machine information.
Your Right to Non-Discrimination
You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by Research Narrative for the exercise of the privacy rights conferred by the CCPA, including but not limited to by denying you services, charging different prices or rates, or providing you with a different level or quality of services. Please understand, however, that we are in the business of providing research and survey results to our clients, and any financial incentives we offer to facilitate that goal may be rewarded only if the applicable survey, research project or study is fully and properly completed by the respondent, in the sole discretion of Research Narrative.
Your Right to Use an Authorized Agent
You have the right to designate an authorized agent to make a request under the CCPA on your behalf. To designate an authorized agent, please contact us as provided below. In order to verify you have authorized an agent we will require a signed, written authorization from you.
Information Security
Research Narrative is committed to keeping personal information secure and will take all reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or alteration, including reasonable encryption, firewalls, company security policies, and other measures. Please note, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet, nor method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.

Additional Information for European Union Users
Our services may be accessed abroad. All personal data collected by us will be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Research Narrative or its affiliates, contractors or agents maintain facilities. By participating in research or otherwise using our services, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.
Individuals in Europe have the right to request access to and rectification or erasure of personal data, to restrict of processing of their personal data, and to object to processing. Individuals in Europe also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We will not process your personal data unless you have given your consent to our processing for a specific purpose, processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you or to comply with a legal obligation, or processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us or a third-party controller.
In cases where the purpose of our processing is the “legitimate interest” purpose, we will also carefully balance those interests against your fundamental rights and freedoms related to your Information. Where processing is based on your consent, we will identify the processing purposes and provide you with relevant information to make the processing fair and transparent.
DATA RETENTION

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. As part of offering and providing customizable and personalized services, Research Narrative may use cookies to store and sometimes track information about you. “DO NOT TRACK”
While Research Narrative honors (and will not interfere with) all browser settings set to “do not track”, Research Narrative has no control over third party websites that may have different policies or procedures. You are urged to consult, as applicable, with the privacy policies of such third party websites.
RESEARCH WITH CHILDREN
Research Narrative does not knowingly make direct contact with children under 13 years of age to participate in research activities, or collect or sell their personal information.
If we require survey information from a child ages 13-17, we contact the legal guardian to obtain permission prior to such child’s participation in the survey, to arrange the survey activities, and to inform them of the subject matter and use of the survey.
If you are a parent or guardian who has discovered that your child has submitted his or her personal information without your permission or consent, please contact us as provided below. Research Narrative will take reasonable steps to remove that information from the its database at your request.
VERIFICATION PROCESS
If you make a request to access or delete your information, or to opt out of the sale of your personal information, we may ask you for additional information to verify your identity. This information may include: your full name, birth date, phone number, email address, or other basic personal information about you that we already have on file.
NOTICE OF FINANCIAL INCENTIVE
Research Narrative may offer opportunities for you to earn money and rewards by answering surveys or any other forms of research. Participation in these offerings may require you to provide personal information. CHANGES IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy may be changed at any time, without prior notice. When we do so, we will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and change the date at the top of the policy. Please view this Privacy Policy on a regular basis for any updates or changes.
CLASS ACTION WAIVER
ANY ARBITRATION OR COURT TRIAL, WHETHER BEFORE A JUDGE OR JURY OR PURSUANT TO JUDICIAL REFERENCE, RELATED TO ANY CLAIM UNDER THIS PRIVACY POLICY WILL TAKE PLACE ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, WITHOUT RESORT TO ANY FORM OF CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION (“CLASS ACTION WAIVER”). THIS CLASS ACTION WAIVER PRECLUDES ANY PARTY FROM PARTICIPATING IN OR BEING REPRESENTED IN ANY CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION REGARDING A CLAIM UNDER THIS POLICY. REGARDLESS OF ANYTHING ELSE HEREIN, THE VALIDITY AND EFFECT OF THE CLASS ACTION WAIVER MAY BE DETERMINED ONLY BY A COURT AND NOT BY AN ARBITRATOR.
